Audition FAQS

What will I need to know to fill out the audition form?

• Your contact information (and contact info for your parent or guardians!) and other personal details such as your grade, pronouns, allergies/dietary restrictions, birthday, etc

• Most importantly, your availability! Make sure you are ready to give a complete and accurate list of any conflicts (both one-time and recurring) between September 14th andNovember 9th, 2026.

• You will also be asked to indicate if you are interested in being an understudy, if there are any specific roles you are interested in, and if you are willing to accept any role in the production.

• You must fill out the form by Thursday, September 3rd to secure an audition slot.

Can I audition with a friend?

Yes! You can audition by yourself or with one or two other people. 

What will I need to prepare for auditions?

1.  Prepare one of the four provided monologues (shared on the Auditions & Callbacks page of our website). After you perform, I may ask you to try one small adjustment. This isn't a test of whether you made the 'right' choice, it's to see how you take direction.

2. You may also be given a short improv prompt (i.e., "act as if you are currently being chased by the Headless Horseman", "act as if you are playing a prank on someone", "act as if you are a mad scientist having an epiphany", etc).

What will happen during auditions?

• First, you will introduce yourself and share which monologue you will be performing (your "slate").

• You may be asked to perform your monologue a second time with a small adjustment (e.g. with a different emotion or physicalization).

• You may be asked to do a short improv exercise, as described above.

• Finally, you will be asked to confirm your availability, answer any questions we have about your audition form, and you will be given a form to take home to your parent or guardian. Do not lose this form, and be sure to have your parent or guardian fill it out! You cannot be cast in the show if this form has not been completed and turned in!

What if I’m not available for many rehearsals?
List all conflicts clearly on your audition form. Hidden conflicts can cause major issues, so be honest upfront. Note that you must be available for at least 50% of rehearsals to be cast in the show, and for at least 70% of rehearsals to be considered for a lead or heavily featured role.

What should I wear to auditions?
Wear something you can move comfortably in. Avoid heels, heavy boots, or restrictive clothing.

What if I’m nervous?
Know that we are all rooting for you. Everyone at the casting table wants you to succeed! Also, there will be an audition workshop on Tuesday, September 8th right after school in the auditorium where you can get advice, guidance, and a chance to practice before auditions begin.

What if I mess up during my audition?
Keep going! Mistakes happen all the time. Confidence and recovery matter much more than perfection.

Can I audition for more than one type of role?
Yes. Unless stated otherwise, everyone is considered for all roles, including ensemble.

Will there be callbacks?
Yes. Callbacks are used to see combinations of people together and explore specific roles. Not being called back does not mean you aren’t cast.

If I’m called back, what should I expect?

You may be:
Reading scenes from the show
Doing more improv exercises, either alone or in small groups

Callbacks are about chemistry, acting choices, and fit, not perfection.

Should I sign up to audition if I’m only interested in ensemble?
Yes! We love enthusiastic ensemble members. 

Can I audition if I’ve never done theatre before?
Absolutely. Newcomers are very welcome!
